Off-roading is at the heart of SUVEC and it is the essence in which it brings its members together.

What Is Offroading?
Offroading is a term for piloting a 4-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle on unpaved roads such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, rocks, and other natural terrain.

SUVEC aims to promote 2 forms of offroading in Singapore:

Greenlaning Offroading:

Driving on routes that are predominantly unpaved tracks, forest tracks, or older roadways that may have fallen into disuse. Main emphasis is on enjoying nature, and enjoying the sense of discovery that comes from accessing areas seldom traveled by motor vehicles.

Trails Offroading:

Low-speed terrain driving over set obstacles. One of the safest forms of motorsport, as the emphasis is on skill rather than on finishing first. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-road

Offroading is an internationally-accepted, family-oriented recreational activity and a recognized sport in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom. Media and Web coverage of offroading activities in these countries continues to grow from strength to strength.

Examples:

  • Jeep Jamboree USA
  • Rainforest Challenge closer to home an offroading competition in Malaysia, supported by Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and Australian Safari, which regularly attracts contestants from more than 25 countries. The Rainforest Challenge is listed as the “Top Ten Winner Malaysia’s Most Spectacular Sports Tourism Event”
